Short answer: your eGo battery is not obsolete. Any vape pen tank with a standard 510 thread will screw straight onto it, and we still stock five that suit it well: the Kanger EVOD, Kanger T2 and Kanger T3S clearomizers, plus the Aspire Nautilus 3S and Aspire Nautilus 3²² for anyone who wants airflow control and a bit more capacity. Here's how to choose between them.
Why eGo batteries are still worth using
The eGo battery format has been around for well over a decade, and a lot of vapers are still using them. They're simple, reliable, and genuinely good for mouth-to-lung (MTL) vaping. The good news is that quality clearomizers with eGo-compatible threading are still made, and the coils for them are still in stock. If you're new to this style of hardware, start with our beginner's guide to eGo-style vaping.
What to look for in a vape pen tank
For eGo batteries, you want a tank with a 510/eGo threaded connection, a reasonable e-liquid capacity (1.5 to 4ml is typical), and replaceable coil heads. Bottom-coil designs generally outperform top-coil ones for flavor and consistency. Adjustable airflow is a nice extra, not a requirement.
The clearomizers that still work: side by side
| Tank | Style | Coil heads | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kanger EVOD | Slim bottom-coil clearomizer, about 1.5ml | ProTank/EVOD heads | The classic starting point |
| Kanger T2 | Slim eGo-style clearomizer | ProTank/EVOD heads | Simple, durable, inexpensive backup |
| Kanger T3S | Bottom-coil clearomizer with TOCC cotton heads | T3S TOCC heads | Better flavor on a slim pen |
| Aspire Nautilus 3S | MTL tank, about 3.75ml, adjustable airflow | Aspire BVC heads | Most capacity and the best flavor here |
| Aspire Nautilus 3²² | Compact 22mm MTL tank, about 3ml, adjustable airflow | Aspire BVC heads | Nautilus performance in a smaller footprint |
Kanger EVOD, T2 and T3S
The three Kanger clearomizers are the natural match for a pen battery: slim, light, and cheap enough to keep a spare. The EVOD is the classic; the T2 is the simplest and most durable of the three; and the T3S is the one to pick if flavor matters most, thanks to its TOCC (Top Organic Cotton Coil) heads. Replacement coils come in a 5-pack. For the full story on this family, see Kanger clearomizers from the ProTank era to the T3S.
Aspire Nautilus 3S and Nautilus 3²²
The Nautilus line is the step up in quality, with airflow control and Aspire's well-regarded BVC coil system. Excellent flavor for MTL vaping. The original Nautilus Mini has been discontinued, but the current Nautilus 3S and the compact 22mm Nautilus 3²² carry it on, and both use the same BVC replacement coil heads that fit the whole Nautilus series. We cover those coils in detail in Aspire Nautilus BVC coils: everything you need to know.
A note on coil compatibility
Clearomizer coils are not universal. Make sure you're buying the right coil heads for your specific tank: Kanger ProTank/EVOD coils, T3S TOCC coils and Aspire BVC coils are three different products. Check the listing, browse our replacement coils collection, or ask us if you're unsure.

Frequently asked questions
Do old eGo batteries still work with tanks sold today?
Yes. Any tank with a standard 510 thread screws onto an eGo battery. Slim clearomizers like the EVOD, T2 and T3S match a pen battery's profile best; wider tanks like the Nautilus 3S work too, they just overhang a slim battery.
What is a vape pen tank, and how is it different from a clearomizer?
They're the same thing. "Clearomizer" is the older name for a clear, refillable pen tank with a replaceable coil head. Newer listings usually just say "MTL tank".
Is the Aspire Nautilus Mini still available?
No, the Nautilus Mini has been discontinued. Its BVC coil heads are still sold and fit the whole Nautilus series, and the Nautilus 3S and Nautilus 3²² are the current tanks that use them.
Which coils fit which clearomizer?
EVOD and T2 take Kanger ProTank/EVOD heads; the T3S takes its own TOCC heads; every Nautilus takes Aspire BVC heads. None of these are interchangeable across families.
