Kanger Clearomizers: From the ProTank Era to the T3S Today

Three pen-style clearomizer tanks with glass bodies and stainless steel bases on a dark studio background

The short version: Kanger's ProTank line is discontinued, but its closest living relative — the Kanger T3S Clearomizer — is still on our shelves, still affordable, and still one of the simplest ways to vape. If you came here looking for a ProTank, the T3S is the tank to know about, and we also stock coils that fit the older ProTank and EVOD hardware you may already own.

Why the ProTank mattered

Kanger's ProTank clearomizers were a big deal in the early days of variable wattage vaping. The ProTank-3 brought together pyrex glass, bottom dual coils, and airflow control at a time when those features weren't common on one tank — genuinely innovative for its era, and a big reason the ProTank name still gets searched today.

That generation of hardware defined the mouth-to-lung (MTL) style: a tighter draw that feels closer to a cigarette, modest power, and easy top-ups from a bottle of e-liquid. Plenty of long-time vapers — including a lot of our customers, family-run since 2011 — never saw a reason to move on from it.

The Kanger T3S: the clearomizer we still carry

The Kanger T3S is a bottom-coil clearomizer with the same approachable MTL character as the ProTank series. It uses TOCC (Top Organic Cotton Coil) heads, which produce clean flavor and hold up well over time.

What keeps it relevant:

  • Simple, reliable design with no fussy adjustments
  • Works with standard eGo batteries and most 510-threaded devices
  • TOCC coils are easy to replace and available in different resistances
  • Affordable enough to keep as a backup or to hand to someone just starting out

If you're new to this style of hardware, our beginner's guide to eGo-style vaping covers how batteries and clearomizers fit together.

Coils and compatibility

This is where ProTank-era owners get caught out: T3S heads and ProTank heads are not interchangeable. Here's what fits what.

Your hardware Coil head to buy Notes
Kanger T3S T3S TOCC replacement heads (5-pack) Top Organic Cotton Coil design; not compatible with ProTank heads
ProTank, ProTank 2, EVOD, MT32 ProTank/EVOD replacement coils (5-pack) Fits the older bottom-coil Kanger family

We keep a full range of heads for current and legacy tanks in our replacement coils collection.

Where clearomizers fit in 2026

Clearomizers still make sense if you want something inexpensive and repairable that just works. If you'd rather have newer hardware in the same easy-to-live-with spirit, pod systems are the modern equivalent, and our starter kits and beginner-friendly kits bundle everything you need in one box. For a wider look at what still works with older batteries, see our guide to clearomizers for eGo batteries, or browse current tanks and glass.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Kanger ProTank still made?

No — the ProTank line has been discontinued. The closest current option we stock is the Kanger T3S, which shares the same bottom-coil, mouth-to-lung design.

Do ProTank coils fit the Kanger T3S?

No. The T3S takes its own TOCC heads. We carry ProTank/EVOD-compatible replacement coils separately for the older hardware.

What batteries work with the T3S?

Standard eGo batteries and most 510-threaded devices. Any basic pen-style battery you already own is very likely compatible.

Are clearomizers still worth using?

For simple, affordable mouth-to-lung vaping, yes. If you want less maintenance, a modern pod system covers similar ground with pre-built pods.
