The Tobeco Coil Jig V2: A Must-Have for Coil Builders

The Tobeco Coil Jig V2: Make Coil Building Easier

If you're building your own coils, a coil jig isn't optional — it's essential. Trying to wrap kanthal wire freehand produces inconsistent coils that are harder to install and don't perform as well. The Tobeco Coil Jig V2 solves that problem cleanly.

What makes the V2 better than the original

The redesigned version moved the tightening screw to the side of the device rather than the top. This sounds minor, but it makes a real difference — you can wrap wire without the screw getting in the way, and it's much easier to tighten down one-handed while keeping tension on your wrap.

How it works

The jig comes with multiple mandrel sizes, so you can build coils at different inner diameters depending on your atomizer and your preferred resistance target. Slide the wire through, secure it, wrap your desired number of turns, tighten the screw, and cut. Consistent coils every time.

What you'll need alongside it

  • Kanthal A-1 Resistance Wire — the standard wire for most builds
  • Ceramic tip tweezers for strumming and compressing coils
  • A multimeter or ohm reader to verify resistance before firing
